Lewis Capaldi

Lushington Entertainments proudly presents international breakout star Lewis Capaldi live in Singapore for the very first time. The critically acclaimed Scottish singer-songwriter will perform on 11 January 2020 (Saturday) at Capitol Theatre.

Lewis Capaldi has the kind of voice that needs little accompaniment to create an unforgettable impact. On his full-length debut Divinely Uninspired to a Hellish Extent, the Scottish singer/songwriter offers up a dozen songs showcasing his raw yet mesmerizing vocal presence, along with the graceful piano work and introspective songwriting that recently led to his nomination for the 2019 BRIT Awards Critics’ Choice prize. Featuring the hit single “Someone You Loved”—a timelessly poignant track that spent seven weeks at No. 1 in the U.K.—the album endlessly reveals Capaldi’s rare gift for capturing love’s complexity in the most simply arranged songs and understated melodies.

“Bruises,” released in 2017, quickly garnered nearly 28 million plays on Spotify, making him the fastest unsigned artist ever to reach 25 million plays on the platform. After landing a deal with Capitol Records/Virgin EMI Records, he delivered the acclaimed 2017 EP Bloom, in addition to making his debut at major festivals like Lollapalooza, Bonnaroo, Firefly, and Splendour in the Grass. With his sophomore EP Breach arriving in November 2018, Capaldi soon found himself ranked among the top 350 most-listened-to artists on Spotify.

Having recently toured with the likes of Sam Smith, Niall Horan, and Rag’n’Bone Man, Capaldi makes a point of instilling that sense of fun into his live show—an undeniably joyful experience, despite the heavy-hearted nature of so many of his songs. “As I was working on the album, one of the main things I kept thinking about was whether I’d have a good time playing these songs live,” Capaldi says. “People might come to my shows expecting it to be very serious, but really I just talk a lot of absolute nonsense and try to connect with the audience like they’re my pals. I’m not up there saying, ‘Here’s another one about a girl who broke my heart’—it’s always much more like, ‘Let’s all just have a laugh, and sing some really sad songs together.’”

Capitol Theatre

Capitol Theatre is an architectural and lifestyle gem, revived from being a historical, neo-classical icon to a vibrant destination, at the heart of Singapore’s civic and cultural district. This historic construction is as glorious in its current incarnation as it was back in 1929, when it was first built by M.A. Namazie, an early Singapore pioneer of Persian origin.

Today, the grande dame of the city’s cultural heritage has been rightfully revived into a destination of choice for today’s creators of elite performances and events. Surrounded by a world-class hotel, ultra-luxurious residences, and elegant shopping and dining options to tempt the most discerning of patrons, Capitol Theatre provides the most sophisticated of settings for any cultural milestone.

Share the sense of what it is to be a human being of taste, refinement and savoir vivre. Be a part of this renaissance of beauty and heritage. The anatomy of Capitol Theatre has to befit its iconic Art Deco architecture. The foyer itself revels in an expanse of space – created by the arching dome-shaped ceiling, while the performance space is defined by sculptures of winged horses and their riders that flank both sides of the stage. This is a venue imbued with history to add gravity and life to performances, propelled into modernity with state-of-the-art equipment. Furnished with latest audio and visual system, the 977-seat venue is the first in Southeast Asia to have a rotational floor system that allows for flexible seating configurations, be it for a film screening, musical production, dance performance or MICE event.
